Job Interview編

上年11月返到黎澳洲就已經開始搵工, 總體黎講係seek及LinkedIn先後make過既job application一定多過150次, so far X’mas前只有一個job interview. 其實大小姐早就叫我唔好蹝氣, 佢話因為traditionally 11月至1月都唔係hiring season, 搞咁多job applications只會換來挫敗感. 事實係佢啱, 大部份係seek既job application從11月起都係無status update, 好彩既就總有幾個會出”not to progress further”, 出呢個至少我知有update.

認真講無local experiences就預佐做低兩至三級既job, no matter係PM role, operation manager或 auditor 我都去試下, 做senior post so far只有11月初既一個interview, 而因為個job最後由perm role轉做contract role, 而我都只係想feel下個job market, 個job好自然只係being shortlisted但無proceed forward.

過佐X’mas後既1月中及二月頭, 就好似大小姐咁講, no matter係online及offline, 所有hiring manager及agent就認真開始做野, 一般情況下, 一個星期內總會有updates. 好似我apply DHL既ICT operational manager咁, 3/4日就收到notification話being shortlisted, 同埋出invite比我做interview.

DHL既interview對我呢D old seafood黎講比較奇怪, 佢係出條URL比48小時我, 用webcam入去online video recording做幾條問題, 而每條問題約有40秒既air time比我做recording, 有D好似Prometric果種exam咁有前無後, 奶佐就奶佐, 無得redo….. 而因為無經驗同埋預備唔夠, 所以都預佐50/50 chance. 其中一條問題我記得係”如果你有個staff唔perform係會點做”.

另一邊箱太太係香港用既recuritment agent早年比澳洲公司PeopleBank收購佐, 而太太都問香港果邊攞埋呢邊既contact. 就好似好多人所知以及大小姐所講一樣, 澳洲做工好多時都係要有connections, 所以我都有直接揾果位referral agent. 個agent打比我傾佐幾句做greeting再arrange佐個tele-conference問下我既background, specialty, job expectations及睇下我真人係咪presentable. 再同我講有個potential job應該大chance可以幫我去試.

上星期四安排佐個interview, 而事前agent都會同我講一講公司background及CIO既expectation, 另外都教定我要問既一條問題, 而且叫我要留意條問題既feedback, 咁我自己都做佐多年hiring manager但從來無捻過應該咁問, 好inspiring…

Interview當日個panelist有CIO及chairman, 咁我自問presentation及execution能力一向都好強, 而且自己做既野都好diversify所以佢兩個都好明顯好鍾意. 其中佢問有部份developers係EU國家, 開會有機會會有時差問我有無問題, 我話香港人一向work around the clock同埋我自己一向要做好件事至收手, 佢話你知啦Aussie一向比較lay back…kakaka…

除佐呢個問題比較有趣外, 另一個我相信好多時都會問既問題就係”會唔會當間公司係stepping stone, 過一兩年就轉工”, 我就好有技巧答佢我呢個年紀應該唔容許我咁易搵工同跳黎跳去, 佢反而話..我地呢道好多”後生囝”, 其中一個developer係阿爺級別黎….心捻OMG真係好堅…..

當然佢有問我有無問題要問啦, 大家可以記住呢個問題 “what can I do for you, to make a bigger positive ?",意思大至上係”有乜野可以做,令到有更大進步空間”, 我覺得真心幾好同有意思. 佢即時講我知佢想我take care個好幾樣野.

另一樣大家值得留意既係無論係seek定LinkedIn都可以set自己個profile做active job seeking status, 好多時D agent會通過seek或LinkedIn搵到你既contact再打電話approach你. 除佐執靚自己份CV同cover letter外, agent好多時都會更有觸覺點去present你個profile. 就好似有個agent幫我progressing緊個senior post係會tape埋video做virtual cover letter (VCL).
